30-Day Water Challenge Revisited

Friday, September 28th, 2018

Well, here we go, the 30-day water challenge revisited. A couple of years ago we wrote about the 30-day water challenge. We spoke about how it was really important to drink enough water daily. To keep your body working at optimum performance levels, you should be drinking 0.033 litres of water per kilo of bodyweight.

With summer fast approaching, we should be thinking about our hydration levels. As we are always saying, by the time you feel thirsty, your body is already crying out for water. Your body is telling you that you are dehydrated when you start to experience the following symptoms.

  • Thirst
  • Dry or sticky mouth
  • Not peeing very much
  • Dark yellow pee
  • Dry, cool skin
  • Headache
  • Muscle cramps

Our bodies are amazing machines that if we listen will let us know what is wrong. Lack of fluids can be the start of many problems. We can alleviate many of these problems by just monitoring and increasing our fluid intake. The funny thing is that it is only difficult to drink more for the first few days, but then gradually each and every day it gets a little easier.

I found a terrific bottle in the sports shop that actually has the measurements in ml and litres on the side as well as the times of the day. This makes it really easy to drink more water but in smaller increments. It is a 2-litre bottle, so quite large to carry around but you can decant into a glass. I have found it a great way to monitor how much I am drinking because it shows if I am on track. I take this around with me during the day and it definitely helps me to drink more water on a daily basis.

Will you do the 30-day water challenge?

Make a decision today and your body will thank you for it. Head over to our 30- day water challenge post and check out the instructions. Then grab yourself a bottle so you can monitor your fluid intake. It’s as simple as that and you will be so glad you did. Here’s to a healthy, hydrated new you.

5 Ways to Drink More Water

Friday, March 23rd, 2018

We all know that we should drink more water and that by the time our mouths feel dry we are already dehydrated but did you know there are some ways that can help encourage you to drink more water. I am going to share with you 5 ways to drink more water because once drinking more becomes a habit you will find it much easier to increase your daily intake. The benefits will be felt very quickly once you make it a daily ritual to drink for water.

1. Drink a glass as soon as you wake up in the morning.

While you have been sleeping, your body has been working hard to rejuvenate your organs and repair your cells, therefore, it would truly appreciate the hydration that comes from a wonderful glass of water. It will also flush out the toxins that have accumulated around your joints whilst sleeping. A great start to the day and even better if you drink it lukewarm with the juice of 1/2 a freshly squeezed lemon added for a little extra detox.

2. Use a Refillable Drink Bottle.

While it is great to drink out of a glass, it is not always practical. When you are on the go all of the time it makes it hard to always have water on hand. If you make it part of your routine to take a water bottle with you wherever you go then you will always have your water easily accessible. When it is always right with you or in front of you there will always be that fresh reminder to keep you drinking regularly.

3. Drink a glass before each meal.

Often times we are thirsty and dehydrated but our body mistakes it as the signs of hunger. If we make it a habit to drink a glass of water before each meal not only will it help our digestion of the foods but it will also fill us up slightly. This has a wonderful way of stopping us from overeating.

4. Drink herbal teas.

Herbal teas are a wonderful way to aid you in consuming more water because herbal teas are consumed without anything else they are just as good as having water. Not only that, the benefits of many herbs will also help to keep you healthy and active. Herbs can be chosen for not only their taste but also their health benefits. For example, Chamomile is great for relaxation and calming the nerves, wonderful in times of stress. Dandelion helps to promote digestion and is also know to help cure acne. Lemon and turmeric water has great health benefits also. There are so many more positives to drinking herbal tea but if it helps you increase your water intake then that in itself would be enough. Make sure you don’t add anything else to it such as sugar.

5. Add fruit and or vegetables to your water.

Many people find water hard to drink due to the lack of taste, I know as a child I did. Try adding some cut up fruit to your bottle before you fill it. What you add is entirely up to you and what you like. Try experimenting with different things until you find something you like. Some ideas could be citrus fruits like orange, lemon or lime. Berries like blueberries, strawberries or raspberries. You could even use cucumber or watermelon. Whatever you use will benefit you. Many fruits and vegetables contain antioxidants which help the body to fight off free radicals within and keep you healthy at a cellular level.

Water is The Key to Health

Thursday, August 31st, 2017

Water is the key to health! this is something I have been telling my family for as long as I remember. Being someone that doesn’t like taking any medication, I knew water was the key to health. I was determined to bring my children up understanding how their bodies worked. I wanted them to enjoy a healthy life without reaching for a pill every time something went off balance.

If any of then say they don’t feel well the first thing I say is, ” have a glass of water.” Nine out of ten times, their problem is cured with a long refreshing glass of the good stuff.

Hydration is so important, whenever we start to become dehydrated every part of our internal machinery starts to suffer, especially on a hot day when we are sweating out more fluids than we are replacing.

When you consider the fact that our bodies are made up of 50 to 75% depending on our age it becomes clear that if we are dehydrated our bodies will break down. A person can survive up to three weeks without food but only 3 days without water.

Main functions of water on our bodies

  • It keeps our organs functioning well.
  • It cushions our joints.
  • Flushes waste from our bodies.
  • aids in our digestion.
  • Regulates our metabolism and body temperature.

These factors make it so very important to drink lots of water and yet something that we all fail to think about in our day to day lives. So, next time you get a headache or pain in the stomach, think about how much fluid you have taken in within the last couple of hours and give your body what it needs. Constipation and headaches are two of the very first symptoms of dehydration along with a dry mouth.

Give your body the love it needs and keep it hydrated on a daily basis because water is the key to health.

Water Listens

Tuesday, April 4th, 2017

An interesting concept don’t you think? Water Listens. Back in the 90’s Dr Masaru Emoto, a Japanese doctor of alternative medicine, author and researcher set out to prove that human consciousness has an effect on the molecular structure of water. What he discovered has changed the viewpoints of many.  How everything is connected on a universal level is now very much a popular topic thanks to research. Dr Emoto, armed with a very powerful microscope started freezing and then taking pictures of water that had been exposed to different words, prayers, music and environments. The things he discovered were absolutely remarkable.

The water crystals actually changed depending on whether they were exposed to something positive or something negative. Anything negative produced deformed and distorted crystals. On the other hand, water that was exposed to anything positive and uplifting caused beautiful symmetric crystals to be formed. Not only did he expose water to those different elements but he also collected water from various places and studied the differences. Take a look at the pictures below.

Looking at the differences is really astounding and an eye opener at least. Now take into consideration that the human body is made up of no less than 60% water it really makes you think about the affect we can have on somebody with just what we say to them. Consider this next time you are belittling someone or talking in a negative way about a loved one. Think of the damage we can actually do to another’s well-being with just our words. Dr Emoto has written numerous books on his findings, each and every one just as fascinating as the last.

The water you drink will have a profound effect on your health and the health of your loved ones so next time you pour yourself a drink of water, remember to infuse it with much love and gratitude and enjoy the benefits of wonderful health and wellbeing.
