The 30 Day Water Challenge

Friday, September 30th, 2016

We have all seen the 30-day water challenge around, where you are supposed to drink three litres of water a day for thirty days. Have you tried it before?

I have been doing some research on results people have been getting and overall it looks like a great idea. As a society, we don’t drink enough water and  I think a high percentage of people are generally dehydrated. I really only drink water and herbal tea so I was under the impression that I drank quite a lot of fluids but when I actually calculated how much I was drinking each day, it really wasn’t close to what my body needs to replace fluids lost. Considering the fact also that I live in Tropical North Queensland where temperatures are regularly over 30°  making it more important to ensure water is continually consumed throughout the day.

So back to the 30-day  water challenge, here is a list of the positive results you can expect to see if you decide to take this on.

  • Increase in energy.
  • Clearer skin.
  • Loss of weight.
  • decrease in appetite.
  • Lose a couple of cms from around your waist.
  • More flexibility in the joints.

Ok so that all looks really great but don’t expect to see any results for the first few days, in fact, you might even feel worse to start off with as your body starts to purge the toxins and release them. You may feel bloated  and feel some aches and pains in the joints as well as a few break outs in your skin as those nasty toxins are pushed to the surface. Don’t panic just persevere and keep going the time will pass anyway and you are doing something amazing that your body will thank you for.

If you don’t think that you can drink 3 litres a day then start lower and build up or use the information below to check how much you should be drinking  daily according to your weight.

Daily recommended water intake.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   You should drink 0.033 Litres per kilo of bodyweight.

  Your weight = 70kg x 0.033 = 2.31 Litres                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Your weight = 90kg x 0.033 = 2.97 Litres

Instructions:

  • Find yourself a jug or bottle that will hold the required amount of water and fill it each morning when you get up. My first glass of water each morning contains the juice of half a lemon, now I have done this for as long as I can remember so I will continue to do that but count the amount as part of my 3 litres. If you don’t like the taste of plain water then you can add fruit to yours to give it some flavour.
  • On day one remember to weigh yourself so that you can keep track of your weight throughout the month. Continue to weigh yourself throughout so you can chart your progress.
  • Remember to take a picture of your face on day one and each week, this will show you the difference as you progress through the month.
  • Measure your waist on day one and also each week, remember above that you should find that you lose a couple of cms from this area.
  • Keep a diary of your progress, write down any changes you notice or even emotions or how you are feeling as you progress. Don’t forget you may feel worse for the first couple of days.
  • Get some of your friends together to join in with you so that you can motivate and encourage each other.
  • Make sure you drink all of the water in the bottle or jug each day before you go to bed.
  • MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL HAVE FUN AND BE KIND TO YOURSELF.

So now time to set your goals and decide. Many people find that when they start this challenge they actually choose to continue to drink the same amount of water after as they feel so good. Before you start, make sure if you have any health concerns to speak with your GP first. You must also make sure that you spread your water consumption throughout the day small amounts often as too much water all at once is not good for the body and can lead to water intoxication.

We would love to hear how your 30 day water challenge goes so please feel free to Let us know how you go and maybe we can share your story.
